Those Who Remain will launch digitally on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come May 28th 2020 with an SRP of £15.99/€19.99/$19.99. Attempting to break off his affair and put his family back on track he drives into the night, unaware of the darkness brewing below Dormont and the cause of recent disappearances. This will see us follow the life of Edward, a man who had the perfect life, before being lured into darkness. And from there it’ll deliver a story driven first-person adventure-thriller combining a deeply atmospheric game world with unnerving and tense psychological horror that delves deep into the human psyche. Those Who Remain is set in the sleepy town of Dormont, a town in a spiralling split from the fabric of reality, warped by darkness and the deeds of the citizens who reside. For disclosure, we were provided a copy for review and this was completed on a PS5 using PS4 backwards compatibility.

Welcome to the Any Button Gaming review of ‘Those Who Remain’, an indie horror title available on PS4, Xbox One, Steam and Nintendo Switch. What you decide will affect the ending and the fate of the characters. So why not include all the endings that were discussed? There are some situations where the player has to decide a course of action. We had so much fun discussing the plot that we couldn’t decide exactly how the game would end. A tragedy occurs, followed by a series of unfortunate events, and a series of bad choices eventually leads the main character to Dormont.
We’re taking great care to create a gripping narrative without spoiling anything, we’ll just say that a kid - a victim of bullying because she’s different - is at the center of the story. In Those Who Remain, staying in the light is key to survival, with darkness equaling nothing but death. The sources of inspiration for Those Who Remain are many: the general atmosphere follows in the footsteps of the Remedy titles, Alan Wake in the first place, but also Control peeps out with the presence of a temporal plane different from the real one with which to interface. Arriving in the town of Dormont, players will quickly find out that although the town seems normal, mysterious entities roam through the dark, taking away anyone who gets too close.
